About Us

Batticaloa West is one of 17 education zones in Eastern Province. It is located approximately 10 km from Batticaloa town in the south-east region of Batticaloa District. It shares boundaries with Batticaloa Zone in the east, Polonnaruwa District in the west, Paddiruppu Zone in the south, and Kalkudah Zone in the north. Batticaloa West Zone was initially announced as a sub-zone on 12 November 2010 and later officially declared an individual education zone on 22 July 2011 by separating nearly 60 schools from Batticaloa and Paddiruppu Zones.

The administrative building of the zone is located in Manmunai West Division, situated in the eastern region of the zone. The zone is divided into three education divisions namely Manmunai West, Eravur Pattu, and Manmunai South West, which are also the three Divisional Secretariat divisions.
